About the event
Wild Singing at Forest of Flowers
It's well documented that both singing and nature benefit our health and wellbeing hugely. In this special event, we combine the two!
Join local singing leader and fieldsinger Jessa Liversidge to explore your own voice and learn a range of uplifting songs, all inspired in some way by nature. As we walk around the beautiful and varied habitats of the Forest of Flowers, we'll connect with the woodland, vibrant wildflower meadows and abundant wildlife at their summer peak.
The Forest of Flowers is a dedicated haven for wildlife across 74 acres, providing a truly inspiring setting to experience the freedom of outdoor singing. Our only audience will be wildlife, from birds and dragonflies to bees and butterflies. (The site is now officially the number 1 butterfly habitat in Yorkshire!).
This event is open to anyone, any age, who enjoys singing, whether you are an experienced singer or just someone who enjoys singing in the shower/car! All songs will be taught by ear, so no need to be able to read music. Jessa is a positive and encouraging leader and will enable everyone to feel the benefits of singing together in a group, with the added benefits of fresh air, beautiful surroundings, and nature's backing singers - the real songbirds.
After our wild singing session, we'll enjoy tea, coffee and homemade cakes in our lovely orchard.
Our walk will include uneven terrain - we recommend sturdy/waterproof footwear such as walking boots.
Tickets are limited and booking is essential. Please car-share where possible to reduce car travel and help with car parking capacity.
Jessa Liversidge
Jessa is a highly experienced performer and singing leader, with recent training including the Vocal Health First Aider accreditation with Vocal Health Education as well as intensive training in performing, singing teaching, and musical direction with world-renowned Vocal Process. She leads several regular choirs (York Military Wives Choir, Community Singers in Easingwold, Helmsley Arts Centre Singers, Wigginton Singstars) and is founder and director of the inclusive Singing For All with Jessa CIC in Easingwold and York.
For her work in bringing people together in song, Jessa was a finalist in the BBC Radio York "Make a Difference" awards in the "Together" category in 2022. Jessa loves working with singers of all ages, each week inspiring singers aged 5 to 95, and her positive. nurturing approach has led to her sessions being described as "life-changing" by many.
During Covid, Jessa created #fieldsing. A very simple concept, Jessa started singing outside, unaccompanied, to uplift those stuck at home and help people stay connected with nature and with singing through these dark times. Every week since then, Jessa has performed a song outdoors - through rain and snow, through her own personal challenges. These 3 years have seen some amazing creativity, including a full show performed at both indoor and outdoor theatres, "Fields and Lanes" - a collaboration with actor husband Mick Liversidge, who himself took to the lanes reciting poetry online through lockdowns.
Jessa is looking forward to spreading the joy of #fieldsing through these outdoor singing workshops, helping others reap the benefits of singing outside in wonderful surroundings.

About Forest of Flowers
The Forest of Flowers project has created 74 acres of new woodland and wildflower meadows, with the sole aim to provide a thriving natural sanctuary for wildlife.

The land, previously a mixed arable and sheep farm, was re-purposed in 2016 when over 42,000 trees and shrubs were planted, alongside 35 native wildflower species. This is part of a vision to create a thriving ecosystem to benefit pollinators, birds and a diverse range of native wildlife. As well as a focus on increased biodiversity, the project supports:
- UK wildflower population, providing seeds from the meadows to other sites nationwide.
- Carbon capture to reduce the effects of climate change.
- Prevention of flooding in the local area.
Since its creation, the Forest of Flowers has become the number 1 habitat for butterflies in Yorkshire, based on population since 2020.
All ticket sales will support our conservation work here on the Forest of Flowers nature reserve. Thank you!

"Thank you for a most enjoyable, relaxing, varied and informative event. It was a very special, unique and memorable afternoon. The structure was excellent as it was so varied and the activities linked together so well. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived and the setting under the gazebo in the orchard was absolutely perfect... and your friendly cat was an added bonus!" - August 2022
"From our perspective it was just the right balance, giving people a chance to learn, share their stories, mix with others, ask questions. As always, your knowledge and enthusiasm shone through and I’m sure everyone found the afternoon useful and interesting." - August 2022
