About the event
Join us for a volunteer afternoon to help support the future success of our new woodland. You'll also have the chance to learn about the site, the species planted and best practice for woodland management.
This event will be a 2 in 1 - helping the site in 2 key ways:
Removing an area of invasive young sycamore trees
Building a screen/fence perfect for wildlife watching, using the natural material collected from the sycamores
In one area of the woodland, there are hundreds of young sycamore trees growing very densely (seeded by older sycamores nearby). These sycamores are now hindering the native trees we planted, with such a dense growth resulting in little light now reaching the ground floor.
The sycamores can still be cut easily, and have straight, flexible stems perfect for woodcraft and weaving. This means we can use the sycamore to build a wildlife-watching screen. Visitors to…
