About the event
Join us for a guided tour for Open Farm Sunday around the Forest of Flowers in Huby, York, led by Site Manager and Founder, Alwyn Craven.
Since 2016, this site's 100 acres of arable and grassland have been transformed into new woodland and wildflower meadows to provide a haven for wildlife. Much of this was achieved using an innovative process of topsoil inversion, followed by sowing wildflowers amongst the newly planted trees.
The tour will showcase key areas of the new habitat, including woodland, wildflowers, 18 large ponds, and their benefit for wildlife. Alwyn will also explain how the Forest of Flowers was created, and answer questions on how you can support biodiversity with your green space, no matter the scale.
The tour will include a visit to see a different kind of wildlife - our goats! They're an important part of our project and very friendly too.
